bigstock Young People group of women 40771600 600x400 10 Best Fitness and Weight Loss AppsMy most important fitness tool is my phone! There are a ton of great apps to help you reach your health and fitness goals. Here is my top ten list of apps I can’t live without:

  1. Half Marathon Trainer. Check out my review here — I love this app, and it’s a great way to train for your first half marathon! The app uses walk/run or jog/run intervals in order to help you train safely and efficiently.
  2. 8tracks. While not technically a fitness app, 8tracks has a ton of FANTASTIC workout playlists. Best of all, the app is free and 8tracks does not have audio ads like Spotify or Pandora.
  3. Treadmill Trainer Beat Burn: Ready to become addicted to running? This app helped me catch the running bug by being awesome. Beat Burn is an interval training app that speeds up and slows down your music in order to get you to run faster or slower.
  4. Zombies, Run! The three best things on earth in one app: running, zombies, and British accents. Read my review here.
  5. Lose It. Also a website, this wonderful calorie-counting app scans barcodes to make recording your intake simple and quick. While I don’t recommend to do calorie counting for the long run — I think it can promote unhealthy obsessive behavior — it is a good temporary app to use in order to make sure you’re getting enough protein and are balancing your macronutrients. Calories are less important than making sure you’re eating healthfully.
  6. Gym Pact. This app is the reason I stick to my workout plan! Check out my review to see how you can earn money from working out! Gym Pact also plays well with other apps: workouts completed with apps like Runkeeper and Fitbit count to your workouts for gym pact.
  7. Runkeeper. This is one of my favorite apps for tracking your runs. The app has audio mile markers that tell you how fast you’re running and how far you’ve run so you don’t have to check your phone during your run to see your progress. The app also allows you to set mileage goals and track your splits for each run.
  8. GymFlow. This is a new app that’s only available to a handful of gyms, but I hope it catches on because this app saves my life and helps me figure out when I should work out! It shows you how busy your gym is, and the projected amount of traffic hour-by-hour for the whole day. That way, you can plan when you go to the gym in order to beat the rush.
  9. Paprika. Fitness is nothing if you’re not eating right. Paprika is my favorite recipe organizer of all time and it’s how I survived the Clean Eating Challenge. Check out my review here!
  10. Nike Training Club. I always get a ton of questions from people looking to design the best strength workout for them. This app is perfect for workout design and tracking your progress — check it out!

Good luck and I hope these awesome fitness apps help you reach your goals!
