Swap…
- Izze for Coke. First off, I hope at least some of you guys have already given up soda. If you’re trying to lose weight, get healthy, or tone up, soda will make your goals an uphill battle. If you can’t give up the fizz, however, try Izze. It’s sparkling fruit juice, and it’s delicious and healthy, with no added sugar or strange chemicals. (P.S. The best flavor is Grapefruit!)
- Airpopped Popcorn for Regular Popcorn. Regular microwave popcorn is so terrible for you because of the fat and sodium content from the butter and oil included in the bag. If you pop your own popcorn and top it with, say, cinnamon, then you’ve got a healthy, tasty snack!
- Unsalted nuts for breakfast bars. Looking for an on-the-go breakfast? Grab a banana and some nuts instead of that processed breakfast bar. Breakfast bars or trail mix bars often have high amounts of sugar or sodium along with strange ingredients. Nuts are a natural source of protein and fiber, so not only are they filling, but they also have been known to suppress cravings.
- Oatmeal for cereal. Don’t get me wrong, some kinds of cereal (like anything from Kashi!) can be healthy. But if you’re eating Reeses Crispy Delicious Sugary Cookie Pops, you’re probably exceeding your daily limit for sugar before 11am. Breakfast is important in terms of weight loss because it’s the fuel that will burn your metabolism fire for the rest of the day. Make sure the Oatmeal you choose is low in sugar and sodium.
